Security Forces Parades Peace Corp Commander And 49 Others

The police, Department of State Services (DSS) and the army on Wednesday paraded commandant and 49 others of the Nigeria Peace Corps, saying the law does not recognise it as a security outfit.

According to the police, Mr. Dickson Akoh, Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps and 49 others will soon be charged to court for operating illegal quasi security outfit.

Mr Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relation Officer when speaking in Abuja during the parade said the joint operations of the Force to dismantle illegal security outfit will be carried out throughout the country. He also stated that in accordance to the intelligence reportd these unapproved security outfits are amassing weapons and conducting military training.

In 2013, federal government gazette dissolved and proscribed the Nigerian Maritime Security Agency (NMSA), Nigerian Merchant Navy Corps and the Nigerian Merchant Navy Petroleum Security and Safety, the Peace Corps of Nigeria and other quasi illegal security outfits.
