University Of Lagos Introduces Dress Code For Students

In a bid to curb indecent dressing among students of the institution, the management of the University of Lagos has introduced a dress code for the students.
The dress code was revealed in a notice with the heading "DRESS CODE FOR UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS", pasted around the institution.
The notice empowers lecturers and administrators to correct/exclude students from lectures and official business when they are not properly dressed.
The code said for the avoidance of doubt, male and female students of the institution are not allowed to wear the following:
i. All tight-fitting clothes including skirts, trousers and blouses.
ii. All clothes which reveal sensitive parts of the body such as the bust, chest, belly, upper arms and the buttocks. Examples of such dresses are transparent clothing, " Spaghetti tops", "Wicked straps", Mono-straps" and "Show me your belly". Skirts and dresses with slits above the knees fall into this category.
iii. Outfits such as knickers, miniskirts and dresses which are not at least knee length.
iv. Inappropriate outfits, e.g party-wear, beachwear and bathroom slippers should not be worn to lectures.
v. Outfits such as T-shirts, skirts and jeans which carry obscene and subliminal messages.
vi. Trousers such as hip rider and low-waist jeans.
In addition, students are to wear their academic gowns during matriculation and graduation ceremonies on black or grey suits.
