RIP UI VC AND BURSAR- NASU DISPLAYS

NASU displayed a small coffin with the inscription "RIP Olayinka & Alatise". Professor Idowu Olayinka is the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, while Mr. Michael Akinade Alatise is the University Bursar.

Non Academic Staff of Universities at the institution causes a total standstill of admistrative and academic activities at the University of Ibadan protesting a shortfall in their salaries and allowances.

After the one week warning strike NASU members took to street on Monday and lockdown the school activities completely causing academic staff members to trek their various department

On Tuesday , the second day of the protest members are seen playing games, discussing in groups and blaring music while some others came with their mats spreading them directly at the gates and sleeping on same.

A member of staff  said, "We were told that our money for January was overpaid from Abuja (Federal Government), but the University management underpaid us, where are they keeping the money?"

The worker added, "The University Bursar said there is money, but it is not with him, while the Vice-Chancellor said there is no money."

A visit to some faculties and departments showed classrooms and laboratories under lock and key. Few students were seen discussing the development in groups.
