Nigeria Prisons To Employ 6,545 This Year

Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS), said it will  employ 6,545 personnel soon.The new intakes will be deployed to different cadre.

 

About   N6 billion  has been provided for the recruitment in the 2017 budget.

Mr Jaffaru Ahmed,comptroller General (CG) of the NPS while defending his agency’s budget in the House of Representatives. He said the service has inadequate personnel, which prompted request for waiver from the federal government to enable service carry out recruitment.

 He also said that the service would embark on mechanised farming tio enable inmates to produce enough food to feed themselves. He also said the agency intend to set up farming centre to train and boost agricultural production. About N16 billion is spent each year to feed 72,000 inmates.
