Nigeria Moves Up In FIFA Rankings Despite Absence At AFCON 2017

Nigeria has moved up 9 places to 41 on the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday, 9th February 2017.

Nigeria who is under the tutelage of German coach Gernot Rohr, now occupies seventh position in Africa.

Nigeria's upward movement is despite the team's absence at the 2017 African Cup of Nations which ended in Gabon last Sunday.

This is Nigeria's highest ranking in over two years.

Recently crowned Africa Champions, Cameroon moved twenty-nine places upward to occupy the 33rd postion in the world while Egypt moved up twelve places to 23.

Argentina remains at the first position in the world with Brazil coming second ahead of World Champions Germany.
