Is Cancer Cure Here? Cancer Patient Who Had 18 Months To Live Now Cancer Free After Taking World First Drug

A cancer patient, Bob Berry whom doctors gave 18 months to live is now free of any tumour after taken a trial drug.

Bob is one of only 12 people worldwide given the new wonder drug. Doctors have described Berry's treatment result as phenomenal.

60-year old Bob who was diagnosed of lung cancer in 2014 was given one year and 6 months to live after radiotherapy and chemotherapy failed to work.

The new drug which is so new that it cannot be be named, works in combination with immunotherapy treatment. It is the first time the drug will be used to fight cancer in humans.

Dr Matthew Krebs, Bob’s consultant at The Christie told Manchester Evening News: 

"Bob has had a phenomenal response to taking part in this clinical trial.

"His most recent scans show that he’s had a complete response with no apparent trace of tumour in his body.

"We will need to monitor Bob closely with regular scans to assess how durable this response will be."

Bob added: "At the end of the day, this clinical trial at The Christie has extended my life and I couldn’t be more grateful. Anyone who is offered a clinical trial should seriously consider it."
