Award Winning Journalist, Soyombo Announces Exit From TheCable, Says He Might Leave Journalism Altogether

Award winning investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo has announced he is leaving the post of Editor at Thecable.ng, after three years.
TheCable is Nigeria's first major Online Independent newspaper.
Soyombo who has won several awards both internationally and locally, announced his plans through his Facebook wall to embark on a 3-month sabbatical from full-time journalism during which he will he will have a lot of rest, hangout with friends, write his first book. Soyombo also hinted he might leave journalism altogether.

"After three draining but amazing years, I have left the post of Editor at TheCable.
I’m embarking on a three-month sabbatical from full-time work during which I will:
1. Have a lot of sleep
2. Hang out with friends and family
3. Write my first book (the expanded ‘Forgotten Soldiers’ story)
4. Assess my options and make my next move — and there is real possibility I could leave journalism altogether," Soyombo wrote on Monday.

Soyombo is a 2013 recipient of the Deutsche Welle/Orange Magazine Global Fellowship for Young Journalists.
Soyombo is also a finalist for the 2015 Thomson Foundation Young Journalist from the Developing World FPA Award and his works have been translated into French, German and Arabic.
